The Equity Committee has been working hard on a collectively drafted, comprehensive Equity Statement for AUFA. This statement was written collaboratively by all members of the AUFA Equity Committee between April 2020 and May 2021.
This statement is meant to offer a set of equity principles for our membership, while also articulating a clear and accessible commitment towards social justice. In this way, it is both a declaration and an aspiration.
We invite your feedback to help develop and contribute to this document which we consider both living and collective. You will also have the opportunity to show your alignment to these principles by publicly endorsing the statement.
Any feedback will be shared with the Equity Committee and may result in some revisions of the statement. If there are revisions, members will be notified by email and the new version will be provided for their review. If you would like to be involved in this process, the Equity Committee is an open committee and welcomes new members.
Each year, the Equity Committee will review the Equity Statement and revise as needed. Any member who has endorsed the statement will be notified of any revisions.
The next steps in this work will be for AUFA to develop an Equity Policy.
