Spring General Election and Resolution Results 2024

Below are the results from the votes for the Spring General Elections, proposed bylaw amendments, member resolutions, and the AUFA Bargaining Proposal. 213 (51.0%) of 418 members voted in this ballot.

Elections

Kate Finegan has been elected to Advocacy Lead.

Lawris Ellefson has been elected to Equity Lead – Professional.

Serena Henderson has been elected to Engagement Lead – Professional.

Laura Jurgens has been elected to Communications Lead.

Houda Trabelsi has been elected to Wellness Lead.

Dr. Lorelei Hanson and Dr. Bangaly Kaba have been elected to the Academic Appeals Committee as alternates.

Corina Dransutavicius, Jennifer Rempel, and Lawris Ellefson have been elected to the Professional Appeals Committee. Doug Neuman and Gerald Abshez have been elected to the Professional Appeals Committee as alternates.

Kate Finegan and Thushyanthan Amirthalingnam have been elected to the Professional Appeals Committee with Respect to Position Evaluation. Spencer Young has been elected to the Professional Appeals Committee with Respect to Position Evaluation as an alternate.

Dr. Matha Cleveland-Innes has been elected to the Board of Governors Representative.

Dr. Lawton Shaw has been elected to UAPP Trustee.

Vacancies on the Executive will be discussed at the upcoming June Executive meeting.

Bargaining

AUFA members voted in favour of the Bargaining Proposal with a 94.7% of members who voted approving the proposal.

Member Resolutions

Members voted in favour of adopting the motion 'Resolution in Support of the People of Palestine’. The motion can be found here.

Members voted in favour of adopting the motion ‘Motion for Solidarity with Scholars in Palestine and against Scholasticide in Gaza and throughout the Occupied Palestinian Territories’. The motion can be found here. The AUFA Executive will discuss next steps regarding the proposed committee at their June Executive meeting.

Bylaw Amendments

All proposed amendments to the AUFA by-laws were passed except amendments to 10.2, which was unfortunately forgotten on the ballot. As such, 10.2 will remain as status quo. The website shall be updated shortly with the updated bylaws.
